Volunteers play an important part in the work of Family and Children’s Services. They give generously of their time and talent, allowing us to provide an enhanced level of service to our client families and generally support our efforts in the community.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life. They are high school, college or university students fulfilling a community commitment or looking to gain valuable experience. They are full time professional people wanting to give back to the community or individuals seeking employment and needing current work experience. Some are active retirees who enjoy children and want to stay involved in the community.
FACS volunteers enjoy a variety of roles as Board members, fundraisers, drivers, tutors, nursery school helpers, evening receptionists, special friends and more. We currently have approximately 300 dedicated volunteers who give more than 55,000 hours each year and drive nearly 2 million kilometres.
If you are interested in volunteering with FACS or our charitable Foundation, we urge you to call our volunteer department for more information. We have a very thorough application process which can take up to 5 to 7 weeks to ensure that every applicant is screened for suitability.
Volunteering with FACS is a very rewarding experience. Call us if you would like to make a difference in the life of a child! (905) 937-7731
